I’ve been meaning to get a new blog up, but between winning volleyball games (yeah GVHS Lady Eagles!!!), grading papers, and doing my own homework, I’ve been a little busy! As I was driving home from class this evening, Garth Brooks’ “Friends In Low Places” came on the radio and, of course, MADE ME MISS K CREW SO MUCH!!! It also served as a reminder to get all of you caught up on some off-season K Crew action…
A few of us lucky K Crew members were in a little different setting a couple of weeks ago. Instead of being outside and on dugouts, we were courtside and running to halfcourt at the NBA exhibition game at Sprint Center. Amy, Emily, Jacqueline, and I were very excited to be part of the game crew for the Portland Trail Blazers vs. Atlanta Hawks game. Here are some pictures of our night…
Jacq was in charge for the night and did a great job! Here’s a little glimpse of the pre-game “action”…
And now us posing… oh yes, we get to hang out with THE Tim Scott!
These guys shot A LOT of free throws!!!! Way to go guys!
K Crew with Kasey!!!!!!
Being a basketball coach’s daughter, I was raised on the hardwood floor and have played basketball since before I could walk, so it was pretty cool to get to be ON THE COURT with some professional basketball players and work in a setting with my other favorite sport. Not only was the experience pretty neat, but it was also really great to see my old K Crew friends again! It was one sweet night at Sprint Center!
A week later, K Crew had our end of season party, which I was VERY sad to miss because I couldn’t miss my grad school class! And then here’s a picture I found from the last game that I had meant to include in the last blog but hadn’t loaded on my computer yet. I felt like it was still pertinent to post this picture though, because at the party, Tony Awards were presented and I received “Biggest Flirt,” which just would not have been possible without the good-looking charm and encouragement from these two guys… hahahaha, miss you boys!
The K Crew has also been involved in a few charity events since the season ended. A couple weeks ago Jacq, Amy and Aaron helped out at the Whitetail Pumpkin Farm Hayride for Special Needs Children, and Sean, Shaun, Sarah and Kirby attended the First Downs for Down Syndrome Buddy Walk at Arrowhead Stadium last weekend. It’s great to get out into the community and work with other organizations!
Just a heads up, my next blog will include information on 2009 K Crew Auditions, so be sure to check in next week for that exciting info!
It’s a GREAT day to be a Royals fan…
I logged into Facebook this afternoon to find the following three status updates in my newsfeed…
Jackie Kitterman…ROYALS!! :)…that’s a sweep!
Jimmy Peddicord…Royals are 3 and 0!
Brady Madsen predicts 162-0. Just 159 to go.
Royals fever is in the air, and I could not be more excited about having the opportunity to be part of this team. The fever was evident last weekend when the K Crew visited a Brigade game at the Sprint Center. Fans went crazy when they saw the K Crew armed with royals.com T-Shirts. Even the fans at the Brigade game knew it was time for baseball season and the K Crew T-Shirt Launch.
Just Tuesday night, we had our walk-through before the big home opener, which is just FIVE days away. We had another photo shoot before learning everything you can imagine about Kauffman Stadium. I’m not going to lie–it was a tiny bit overwhelming, but there was something extremely exciting about walking up onto the field that night. The lights were on, CrownVision was looking incredible, the grass was freshly cut… As I looked around at everyone stepping onto the field, I think we were all feeling the excitement and honor of being a K Crew member.
Not only does the K Crew bring excitement and honor, but also celebrity. To benefit the Autism Alliance, Jacqueline and Kristin were celebrity servers tonight at Beauchamp’s on the Rail in Lee’s Summit. Other celebrity servers included Kansas City Chiefs players. The news and excitement of the Royals’ sweep over Detroit filled the restaurant.
After the game today, I text messaged a friend of mine all excited about the sweep. He first wrote back, “Haha yes, I’m proud you heard!” This was him thinking he’s funny because in the past, I haven’t always been as up to date with Royals knowledge as I’m certainly going to be this year! He then went on to write, “I know, I’m definitely excited about their season. What a good year to be a K Crew member!”
With everyone around me so excited about the team, it makes everything I’m getting to do that much more exciting–from putting on our jerseys to having the opportunity to spend these “extra innings” with you!
It’s a GREAT day to be a Royals fan…
